Can cats drink milk?
After kittens are weaned, they lose their ability to digest milk – contrary to popular belief, cats should not be given cow's milk to drink! Can cats eat cheese?
We know that some owners like to treat their cats with cheese, but this is not advisable as cats are in fact lactose-intolerant. Their digestive system cannot process dairy foods, and the result can be digestive upset and diarrhoea. Some varieties of Whiskas® cat products include cheese as a flavour variety, where the lactose has been removed so they are safe for cats to eat.
Some human foods that are perfectly safe for us to eat can be highly toxic and dangerous for cats, so be sure never to let your cat eat any of the following:
• Chocolate
• Grapes
• Raisins
• Caffeine
• Onions
• Garlic
• Xylitol
If your cat does consume any of these things, please seek veterinary attention immediately.
